What is the payment policy?

Deposit, Signed Acceptance and Terms must be submitted no later than 7 Days after booking is made - 25% of the booking amount is due as a deposit. Balance and Final Itineraries must be submitted 21 days prior to service date.



What is the cancellation policy?

If Cancellation occurs:
22+ days prior to service date, full refund
21-14 days of service date - 25% of booking
13-4 days of service date - 50% of booking
72 hours of service date - 100% of booking



What kind of payments do we accept?

We accept cash, checks (must be paid in full 21 days prior to departure), money orders, or credit cards (Visa, Master Card, American Express).



How much does it cost?

Are driver gratuities included in the price?

No, the driver’s gratuity is not included in your price unless you ask for it to be included. We can add the gratuity to your confirmation as a line item or you can give it to the driver directly.



What is the driver’s recommended gratuity amount?

We recommend 10-15% depending on the service you receive.
Please consider additional gratuity if the driver is handling your luggage.



What size vehicles do you offer?

We have vehicles that seat 14 to 56 passengers.



Does H & L Charter have on call 24 hour service?

Can I get a copy of your insurance?

Yes, of course you can! We can also have your organization named as additional insured while riding in our vehicles.



What are the Driver’s Hours of Service (DOHS) rules?

Final itineraries must be submitted to H & L Charter Co., Inc. 21 days prior to service date. All itineraries must meet FMSCA DHOS rules. (15 hours on duty, 10 hours of drive time, 8 consecutive hours off - please remember all times need to include time for pre/post safety checks, fueling and cleaning.



May I request a certain driver?

Yes, of course you may! Please advise your friendly client specialist!



Are we allowed to have to food/drinks on the bus?

Yes, you may bring food and beverages aboard. We ask that you refrain from having any shelled products (peanuts, sunflower seeds, etc) and no glass bottles or containers of any kind.
H & L Charter reserves the right to charge a cleaning fee.



Are we allowed to have alcohol on the bus?

Yes, you may have alcohol on the bus. To comply with all California laws regarding alcohol and its consumption on board, clients will need to review and sign various waiver forms. Please ask your client specialist for details.



Are passengers allowed to smoke on the bus?

Smoking of any kind (Tobacco/Marijuana) is not allowed on the bus, this includes e-cigarettes/vapes, etc.



Is there a place to store our luggage? How much luggage can each person bring?

Each bus has a designated luggage space. Each passenger should have no more than a mid-size piece of luggage and a small carry on. Luggage will be handled by the driver unless it exceeds the weight limit of 35lbs.



Are pets allowed on the bus?

Service companion animals are allowed on board the bus. Pets are not allowed.



Can we bring our own movies and music?

H & L Charter holds all necessary licenses for you to be able to play movies or music of your choice. H & L Charter does not provide any movies or music, please bring your own.



Are H & L Charter's drivers and buses SPAB (School Pupil Activity Bus) certified?

Yes, all of our drivers and buses have been certified. SPAB is a California mandated requirement for transporting students. Drivers are required to complete 35 hours of driving education initially and 10 hours annually thereafter. It also includes fingerprints and background checks by the FBI and DOJ. Vehicles are inspected every 3,000 miles by qualified shop personnel and annually by the CHP.



What kind of training does H & L Charter offer to its drivers?

Equipment Familiarization, Mountain Training, SPAB Education, Green Certification, Client Satisfaction, CPR/First Aid, Company Policy and Procedure, DOHS, Behind The Wheel, etc.



Can we leave personal items on the bus?

You may leave your personal belongings on board, however, H & L Charter is not responsible for any loss or theft.
